Please read the case information. (thanks Jon!)
The fact of the matter is, like so many giant corporations, nothing Progressive did was “illegal”. Their REGULAR business practices just happen to be CRUEL and the laws have been written to protect them instead of their customers. The Fishers’ story just goes to show how INHUMAN these companies are. And it’s something everyone should know.
That being said, Progressive’s response to this has been disgusting. They blatantly lied and attempted to discredit the word of a good man. And they did this despite the proof being readily available to the public.
Why? Because Progressive thinks we are all stupid.
More on this awful case involving Matt Fisher’s family. I am glad this horrible situation is getting attention.
But what scares me is what Jon says in this post. “Their REGULAR business practices just happen to be CRUEL and the laws have been written to protect them instead of their customers.”
Ben Ragheb says similar stuff over here, “I’m sure a lot of fault lies with the Maryland legislature for writing laws that favor insurance companies at the expense of ordinary citizens, and I hope that eventually some attention is turned on them.”
Everyone quitting Progressive might send a message. But I hope that message is more then just Progressive sucks - because I don’t know that any other insurance company wouldn’t have done the same thing.
This is more then just about Progressive worrying more about their bottom line than about people (their clients in particular) - it’s about a society that protects and gives benefits to companies over people. That’s what sickens me.
