I woke up at 5am this morning, with to do lists running through my head. Finally at 5:45 I just got up, since it was clear I was just going to toss and turn and worry if I stayed in bed. But once I got up, the anxiety subsided. Parker started playing with a couple of toys; hopping and running and…
I’m thankful for the same things. In addition I’m thankful to make the cut in Cat’s post. There are times when she and Parker sit with each other and I start feeling like a third wheel.
Half the Cops on Halloween are a-holes (based on my experience)
On Halloween I was trying to get across the city via 17th street. I then realized that all the cross streets between 6th and 7th avenue were blocked off for the parade. So I stopped to ask a cop a question.
I should point out that I wasn’t yelling, or in mind asking in a rude tone at any point in this conversation. Uh… until the last line.
Me: “Do you know if 16th street is blocked off too?”
Cop: “I don’t know”
Me: “Well do you know what the next street that is open in either direction?”
Cop: “I DON’T KNOW!”
Me: “Hey, I’m just asking.”
Cop: “And I’m just telling you I DON’T KNOW!”
Me: “I wanted to figure out if I should go uptown or downtown to find an open street.”
Cop: “It’s a fucking free country!”
Cop: “It’s a FUCKING free country!”
I point at his partner
Me: “Does he know?”
Me: “Well thanks for being so fucking polite about it asshole.”
At which point his face got even redder. I walked away and he guarded his police barricade. At 16th street a different cop politely told me which streets were still open.
If that cop was in THAT bad a mood before the parade began I can’t imagine how he ever works his job.
Will you put any of your sketches from September up on stage or video? Or was it strictly for the practice/discipline?
I just noticed I had this question.
I don’t know! This is my third year doing Sketch Month… and the first year I wrote a number of sketches I ended up getting made into videos for UCBComedy.com via Diamonds Wow!
But I don’t think I produced any I wrote last year.
I am not against it… I think I need to reread them all and decide if there is anything viable/workable first. And I generally am scared to reread my sketch month sketches for at least 6 months after writing them.
